Branding

Froth is a new-start up coffee shop specialising in coffee from all over the world. A modern environment to enjoy a coffee and snacks, it also does takeaway. The target audience is young professionals. I was asked to design a logo and apply it to stationery and some promotional products. Colour on the logo was restricted to two spot colours.

Information Graphic

This project was part of the Digital Imaging unit and was an opportunity to learn more about when to use bitmaps and when to use vectors. The client was the National Museum of Scotland who will be running a series of monthly exhibitions. I chose Facial Recognition and the brief specified that I had to design a poster and some other publicity materials.

Promotional Graphics

The Art & Design Project brief was to design promotional graphics for a 60s musical, either Hairspray, Hair or Joseph. I chose Hair. I needed to design a poster, programme, advert, CD cover and t-shirt. My concepts needed to reflect the period it is set in or was written in, yet also appear fresh and contemporary. I had to do a great deal of research into the 60s - graphic styles, fashion, hairstyles, pattern/textures, music and the social and political climate.

Photography Project

We were required to choose a theme to explore and to then create a series of photographs using different photographic equipment and techniques throughout the project. The expression ‘smoke and mirrors’ alludes to the performances of stage conjurers who use actual smoke and mirrors to deceive the audience – and we were asked to try and find ideas/potential using this theme to create interesting imagery. Scale, effects and viewpoint could be varied to try and create images that are beyond ‘ordinary’?
